After taking this course, you will be able to communicate in a simple way about basic everyday life and tourism-related topics in Italian. Take this course if you want the following to be true: I can describe my free time activities in Italian I can describe my likes and dislikes in Italian I can tell time in Italian I can manage a hotel reservation in Italian I can list common touristy places in an Italian city (ex. cathedral, museum, castle) Italian culture topic: understanding the layout of Italian cities This course is for you if you can: Greet people at different times of the day in Italian Introduce yourself and somebody else formally and informally in Italian Say where you are from and ask others in Italian Say the alphabet and spell words in Italian Count up to 100 in Italian Conjugate the verbs “essere”, “avere” and “fare” in the present tense Say what is the gender of these words and form their plural: “pizza”, “vino”, “ristorante”, “caffè” Order food and drinks in Italian If you can ask “Do you prefer meat or fish?” in Italian If you know the difference between “primo piatto” and “secondo piatto”
